I have been making these purses for a while but never gotten around to posting them. They are great summer projects especially when you can sit outside in the sun. While you are making them they can be messy because I use jute, but when I'm finished they never shed.
There are a lot of differnet linings. All are reversible and are attached to the inside of the bag with buttons, so you can have many different colors to coordinate all of your outfits. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, my digital cammera isn't working.        Comments are appreciated.

I like it! It's not my personal style (I stick to structured black bags w/silver hardware) but I think it's fun. I actually made a macrame backpack in high school from hemp (and silver hardware!) b/c the big 'They' banned regular ones. I got so many comments on it that I'm sure your purse will get rave reviews...cool stuff like that is always in demand.

That's one cute purse! I really like the idea of the interchangeable lining to match your outfit. Too sweet!
Myself, I have always been intimidated by macrame because it seems so complicated. Now I must work up the courage to try it. Smiley

Thanks, I'm glad everyone likes it.
- It is not crochet, it's macrame.
- I like to crochet and macrame, and probably prefer crochet. I like the looks of Macrame better but you must cut the string ahead of time and when you have about 120 strings hanging down it gets confusing. I also am afraid of cutting them too short so I always have really long ones hanging down.

The purse looks great.  I've been having a go at macrame recently and I could really do with some helpful hints.  Do you have a way of holding your thread so that they don't tangle.  You mentioned deal with 120 threads... I'm having difficulty with 4!

As far as keeping my strings from tangling, well it happens often. ou have to get used to running your fingers through the strings after ever knot (just like you would run your fingers through your hair.) When I make purses I keep them on a lampshade while I'm making them and that also helps with the tangling.
