my first purse post!  I know this isn't much, but I am ridiculously proud of this, because I drafted a pattern and figured out a closure!  (which explains the wonkyness).  Prior to this I had only done a couple of totes from a pattern.  I'm still a beginner at sewing.  I tried to do topstitching, but I think my needle was too small because I had serious trouble going through all the layers on the sides.  Actually, I made tons of mistakes on this purse, but I learned a lot and I think it turned out cute anyway.

edited to say - the colors are slightly off, my wall is actually blue and the colors are more vibrant in real life.

It's a lovely bag!
Like you said: very bright and happy.
The "tons of mistakes" don't show in the picture.

thank you all so much!  I am so happily pleased with your comments!!

Punker Chic
- the fabric came from the remnants bargain bin at Joanns, I think.  and unfortunately, I used all of it making this bag. Sad

Starlene - thank you!  I just changed my avatar; it was a photo of a baby sea turtle

arrhythmia - you made my day by saying you loved the shape. I worked so hard to get that shape!  I even did 2 "muslins" drafting this pattern!

ketmga - it's so addictive... I'm constantly cruising the fabric and pattern websites making wishlists of things to buy!

Really, thank you again for all these nice comments.  After looking at all the amazing projects on this board, I was really intimidated, but I'm so encouraged now!  I've learned a lot from reading & posting on "Discussions & Questions" too - so the next purse should be even better!!
