hi pals,

i'm back after a pretty long time. my internet service was down for about a month so in the meantime i made a few new bags to keep meself busy. now i'm just tired of these, dunno y, so thought of quitting making more bags. well, 3 r under construction right now. would post them soon. oh well, lets get on...

my cousin who just luved my store bought bag (blue one) wanted one too...

so heres my creation, she luved it sooo much. i appliqued the flowers. made a pocket in the front, one in the back and one inside.

this one's made of  black dotted vinyl, added a mirror pocket inside, this is for my cousin hafsa.

i luv this skipping bag, wanted to make it in black but couldn't find a suitable fabric, so i used dark grey instead. i luv the piping touch.

...here with inner pockets.

of all the jordy bags i've made till now, this is the best. i used a black/biege net here with red sead beads to give it a finished look.

following klinga's small handbag tut, i made this for my cousin, isma.

inspired by muchachak's embossed vinyl purse, i made these. still couldn't get a hang of it, there r some minor mistakes.

and a black one too...

last but not least a jordy bag for my niece, janita.

thanks for lookin... Smiley

Your version of the store bought bag really puts it to shame.  Your bag is so neat and professional looking.

I can totally understand why you would want to quit making bags. It's get really tough sometimes to motivate one's self.

but having said that... you are such a fantastic sewer and everything you make is so refined. Do you want to give that up?  Undecided

Your version of the store bought bag really puts it to shame.  Your bag is so neat and professional looking.
my mom was extremely happy with that bag. she said it was the most pleasing among all my bags Grin

thnks pal, well u read it right Sad  i can't carry it on. being a typical pakistani, i seldom go out for shopping. most of these bags are made out of leftovers. the first one was an old navy white pant which i dyed black but surprisingly it came out grey. the second one was bought when i went shopping with my dad. the third was also a piece of pant dyed. the fourth one was my old shirt, the netting was a scarf. the fifth one was made of an old shirt and the last three were bought. well here u see, the problem is i just can't go for shopping, no one buys me stuff, i keep screaming for about a week and then my things arrive. my recent 3 bags which were underconstruction were left unattended for about a week as i needed zippers and piping cords. i envy when i read u people go shopping and find this n that; wish i was that bold, i can't communicate openly,  my mom just gets very upset when i ask for fabrics, zippers, threads etc. wish there were a wal-mart here close by, i wouldn't have bothered anyone. another prob is that the shops are far far away. can't go there alone Sad. i know this is a very lame reason. oh! one more thing, i'm getting married in april, my mom wants me to take care of myself n also prepare my dowry and trousseau. going to be busy in future.

have to add my praises to this conversation too! Each one is so unique and done very well!
Now I know if my server were down for a month I'd me way way way more productive and get lots done too instead of sitting here on the computer adiring all that everyone else has done!   Wink

thnks for the kind comments Kiss well this is the best idea when u can't use the net. i had some tuts with me so i just used them in the meantime Wink

oh, i really luv leather. i told my bro once to get it for me but he's always too busy with his studies Angry

I love your color combinations, I like the one you made way better than the store bought one actually. No offence of course Wink

ohh you're good!! and these bags look so professional!!!!! *envy* *more envy*
you shouldn't stop making bags, since you are so talented! If you don't have materials.. I'd be happy to send you some, it's for a good cause :-) It could be in exchange of the instructions on how to put a zipper on top of the bag, like you did on the first bag (blue one, copycat of the light blue that you bought).
Please please.. I can't figure it out.. :-/
And if you want, PM me with your address, and I'll see what I can do about sending you supplies.. you could consider it a wedding gift :-)))
PS: I live in Italy

Your version of the blue store bought one is much better than the original!! Love the pink/grey skipping bag too - you're right, the piping is a great touch.

sorry for keepin ya waitin, my server was down again Grin

...zipper top tut....

Cut ur outer & inner fabric as shown in the pic (U don't need to cut it down the middle). I had cut this fabric to make a hobo bag but instead used it for the tut.

Now place ur lining right side up, then the zipper right side up (on top of the lining) n then the outer fabric wrong side up aligning the top edge and pin it.

Sew it in place, turn over and top stitch it for a finished look. Do the same with the other side.

This is what ull get.

Now separate both the linings n the outer fabrics at one side, like so

Stitch down the sides and bottom of both, leaving 2 hole in the linings bottom to turn it inside out. Its almost the same as the slouchy hobo bag but without those extra pieces of fabric around the zipper = )

This is what ull get in the end, add ur straps the way tinafish has shown in her slouchy hobo bag tut.

Hope this helps; well this type of zipper technique can be added to ur hobo, slouchy hobo, skipping bag etc., for adding a zip top to a skipping bag this link might help.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=66512.0

For the grey bag, I used separate pieces of fabric for the sides and bottom. In the tut I didnt have much fabric so I just sewed the sides n bottom. Any prob, just ask Smiley

Cheers.

Great tut!!! It reminds me of the lined zipper pouch idea. Now now.. the problem is attaching the strap :-/ I'll check the tutorial you mention and then.. if all else fails.. start running around the room screaming!! heheh
No I'm kidding ;-)

I really love the shape and the neatness of the 2nd one and the leather one.  You do great work and all I can say is don't throw away your talents for good.  You have the rest of your life and just remember you can pick it back up anytime if you really want to.  You have a real talent.  Cheesy

You definitely have to keep sewing.. your man will get used to it eventually. My sweetie even helps  me choose the fabrics and in choosing patterns and such! Occasionally he will threaten to throw all of my supplies (and me) out of the window.. hehe.. but he's very supportive most of the times.
A big hug from rainy Milan
