I've made 2 pots of roses for 2 girl friends.  Comments appreciated.

The pots are made the magazine bowls method, while the roses are knitted.  The rose buds are made using Hershey Kisses chocolates.

Those are beautiful!  Can you tell me what pattern you used?  I have been trying to locate a knit pattern for roses for a long time and all I ever found was crocheted flowers.  ~Tricia

Basically, I adapted it just like I'm making a ruffle/spiral.  After that I just roll it up and stitch it a little to hold the shape.

Cast on 5 sts
Row 1: Purl
Row 2: Increase every st
Row 3: Purl
Row 4: Increase every st
Row 5: Purl
Row 6: Increase every st
Row 7: Purl
Row 8: Increase every st
Row 9: Cast off

You can vary the size of the rose with 2 ways:
!) Cast on more or lesser stitches
2) You can knit only 6 rows, instead of 9 rows.  (this gives you a something like a little rosebud)

Have fun!!

Ok, I made one this morning just before work...forgot and left it there so I don't have a pic of it yet...it's not very big and was wondering what size needles you used.  I just picked out my 8's and grabbed a small ball of leftover pink and white yarn on the way out the door.  It wasn't a very thick yarn so maybe that's why it turned out small.  I bought a skein of worsted red to try again later this week.  Your roses look really big to me.  ~Tricia
