Another reconstruction of mine which was dead easy to do.

All I did was rip the inside leg seams and gussett up to just below the zip, turn under the excess at gussett to make straight edges. Then I used a large silk scarf cut diagonally and attached it to these staright edges leaving the cut edge at hem of 'skirt'. Hem the raw edge of the scarf and a couple of vintage buttons to add a finishing touch and voila! new skirt ( I hated the trousers as they were those with a low baggy gusset and I felt like I was wearing clowns trousers!)

Hope you like.

fabulous! I have at least 10 pairs of pants that desperately need this treatment. In fact, I *just* gave away a pair of brown jeans that coulda used this. Sad Lovely!

Now all I need is more time to sew. Sad

That is gorgeous! I want to try this, but I have one question.  Do you cut the inside seam completely off?

Hi there,

I Undid the seams and left the seam allowance on so that it folded under, and trimmed the gusset so that it went in a straight line up to zip following the folded seam allowance. I stitched the scarf under the fold using plain old running stitch by hand. Also by leaving the seam allowance on you still have the finished edge mainly so that it doesn't fray.

Love that skirt! It gives you the comfort of a full skirt without all the 'fluff'. I have to say that the purple boots in your profile picture rock! I have a bit of a boot addiction  Kiss -  Luckily my dh likes boots so never says anything when I come home with a new pair.

The boots are mine that I had for our 70's party and I reglittered the whole things! They are for sale on ebay at the moment Roll Eyes
I must admit they are gorgeous and I wish I had more room at home and I would just display them so everyone can admire them when they visit me!!!!
Thanks for your comments

That skirt is really cute Cheesy. I'd love to do something like that but maybe with a pair of jeans and make it a shorter skirt. Thanks for the idea!
