A wooden slat on my futon broke and when they sent me the pieces to repair it, they also sent me replacement metal legs (?). So of course I couldn't let those go to waste! I took one of many unnecessary old suitcases that have been gathering dust in my craft room and made an awesome table. Actually, the bf ended up doing most of the work.....so this is really more of his project!

and the "mechanics"

He used a little cardboard on the inside to reinforce the suitcase for the screws. Eventually we're going to give the inside a new lining since it's in bad shape...but since it's just being used for storage right now I don't think anyone's going to be looking inside!

This rocks.  It's perfect for storage.  If I didn't have a million other projects right now, I'd add it to the list - ha heck I'm gonna make one - what does the inside look like?  It looks like you bolted through the bottom?  Did you cover the bolts inside?  Excellent job!

The inside is a mess right now. I think we're going to eventually buy a roll of vinyl or something and re-line it or something...

for some reason, it looks to me like it's going to get up and walk away.  like the footstool "dog" in Beauty and the Beast.

I've actually started collecting old hard suitcases to revamp and make into tables. I plan to reline them with satin and cover them with Faux fur. I may eventually make them look lke animals or aliens. I've also thought covering them with an old map might be nice. It's nice to see others have come up with similar ideas.

Cute idea!  I really like that it still opens so you can toss stuff in there.

Yes. Actually, me and my boyfriend have thought of a lot of different space-saving ideas for suitcase furniture. We're planning on starting a business of our creations semi-soon.

Good luck with that too tho'!
