What a little Paint Pen can do. . . .

so, i bought these shoes on sale from urban outfitters.  i should have known better.  they were $7 after all.

the first day that i wore them, all the bronze "foil" cracked and started to peel off the shoes.

i let them sit around, fuming about my stupid $7 shoes until i realized that all the bronze stuff would probably peel off in sheets.  i was curious as to what shoe lie beneath all that cheap plastic.

i peeled off the bronze (save for the trim and bow) and found a muddled pink slipper beneath.  then i took my trusty gold paint pen and made a fairly passable pair of shoes out of what i might have otherwise thrown in the trash.

not too shabby!  well, not as shabby as before.

i've worn them out today and the paint does rub off pretty easily so i'll have to figure out how to seal it.  but i'm pretty happy with them.

Clear outdoor spraypaint might fix the paint pen- when we use spraypaint out ballet slippers for recitals, we use to clear it with clear outdoor spraypaint... worked well, but that was in a controlled (but hot and sitcky!) environment.

That is exactly what I was going to suggest!!! The shoes look so cute! I'm surprised that the foil peeled off... well actually, not too surprised. i love urban, but some things can be pretty cheap, and not is a good way. Your fix came out really well!
