I just got a fancy flyer in the mail today saying they will send me craft products to try for free as long as I return the questionnaires that come with them.  There are dues of $1 a month.  I have never heard of this before and I'm wondering if anyone else has done this.  It sounds like a good deal, but that's beauty of marketing....

I don't know about that one, but I know lots of chefs who are members of Cooking Club of America, which is through the same company. It's a reliable organization. You basically have to register for stuff every time the magazine comes out, and you don't get free stuff without something in return (mostly just filling out an opinion form, not sending cash). Some chefs found the info and products beneath their notice, and others found it helpful and fun to get free stuff. Some of the products they send are quite nice. I'm thinking of joining both.

Hello, i am a member. It's alright. The magazine is mostly advertising. You do get free stuff but nothing to great. If you test a product, you get to keep the product but for as long as I've been a member (2 years), I have never been asked to test anything. On a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 4. d

Hey thanks!  I was imagining it two possible ways: one, that fabulous things arrive in my mailbox all the time that I can't wait to test out and praise or trash; two, that I would be asked to pay a bunch of money later on for who-knows-what-reason and never get anything good.  Now I know it might not be worthy of my participation.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the offer, but I'll trust your judgement.  I'm not big into crafty magazines anyway, and if it's mostly advertisements I would just get frustrated.

Thanks again, though, for all your help.
