I used this tutorial to make my first stencil!

I did it onto a scrap of t-shirt fabric, then roughly stitched it on a black shirt I had.  It's kinda messy, but I like it.  This is the original picture I used:

Mmm... he's so pretty.  Grin  *ahem* Anyway, yay for my first stencil!  I want to try it again with the freezer paper method, because I lost a lot of detail with the other way.  Huzzah!

Ok, so I tried it with the freezer paper method, and it turned out MUCH better.  A lot more detail.  <3!

This one shows the color a lot better, too.

I know I know.  The original picture I made the stencil from actually had the hat, but I couldn't figure out a good/not-freaking-hard way to stencilize it without it looking dumb.  So alas.  I actually knit his hat, I should post it, huh?...

I saw the hat!

Anyway, don't stencilize it... make it an applique--just the hat--and then sew the applique on top of the stencil whenever you use it.

Coolness! How did I, a Monkeeholic, miss this post? Anyway, good stuff. Congrats on completing your first stencil. Hey, come to think of it, my first stencil is Monkees-related as well. I did a two headed org shirt for my friend. It's floating around Craftster somewhere. You know, us Monkee fans need to stick together. We are a rare bunch. And I agree on Mike being "pretty" lol.

Yeah, I was thinking something like that would be cool, too. Please post when/if you decide to update it. Can't wait to see.

Oh, now that's just cool. I gotta get my hands on some freezer paper.  Oh, the possibilities.  There's this picture of him in a cowboy hat.... Yeah, assuming you can get over the leopard print on the hat band, it's smokin'.  ::drool::
