I am thinking of doing a second one, in some variegated baby yarn I picked up at the LYS yesterday. I have a couple of other small things I would like to finish up before I do however.  Surely I have enough self control not to cast on for this hat... don't I?

i've got some great stash yarn I want to use.  Can anybody reccommend a good tute for knitting with beads?  I've never done it before!

I started and finished my Odessa Superbowl Sunday. What a quick and easy knit! I already had the Rowan Yarn and the beads when the pattern came out. I used a dark grey color and the beads are dark grey. They reflect purple, yellow, blue and green. You can't tell in the picture though.





I am really happy with the results, I normally think I look silly in hats. I'm going to make two more. Both with the Cashoft, one lime cream with clear beads and one red with black beads for my daughter. A ladybug hat if you will.

Oh...Those glasses, I just got them today and I have to say...The hat didn't look half as cute when I wore it without the specs!

Here's my yarn for Odessa (I bought extra to make ruffles from Scarf Style)

I looked through my stash this morning and found out I have enough of some leftover yarn to make a blue odessa.  On my way into school I picked up some beads but I don't think I got enough.  How expensive where all the beads everyone else got?  mine were $4 for a little vial.  And since I think I'll need at least one more vial it will end up being $8-12.  This all seems to be adding up just to use up yarn in the stash.

I got my yarn few days ago, but couldn't find any size 6 beads in the local craft stores. I was desperate to knit this hat with the beads that I finally bought some beads from ebay.
The beads came today, and...guess what, the hole is too small! Even my smallest threading needle won't fit in it! Arrggghhh!!!!

I bought my beads at Michaels for $4 and I probably had enough to make four with on pack. They had a decent size selection colorwise too.

I just bought the yarn (Rowan Cashsoft DK in Ballad Blue) and needles for my Odessa!

This will be my first hat, and first project in the round. And first time using dpns.

Needless to say, I'm skipping the beads for my first hat.

I won't be able to cast on for sixteen days though, until the Olympics is over. (That's a lie, I'll probably cast on and work on it in secret, hiding from my Irish Hiking Scarf.)

Okay I am very anal and I counted all the beads in my little vial.  There are just over 300 beads for $4, so I now feel much better about the price of my beads.  As I had really thought I was getting ripped off as I left the store.

I am going to do a swatch tonight but tomorrow I want to cast on.  How many beads do you prestring?  All of them? Half? Just 10-20? Everything I have looked at as references just say not to prestring too many or you might weaken the yarn.

I finished mine last week and wore it quite a bit over the weekend.  So cute!  I love it!
