It's more fabric (on the inside) and thick paper with lots of varnish to give it a leathery feeling.

Erm. . .what did you varnish?

I varnished the cover...don't know what the material is, but it's kind of like a vinyl-y tablecloth fabric, I suppose. The butterfly in the center is on paper and I wanted that varnished to maintain the integrity of the paper and unify the cover look...and give it some sheen.

If anyone is interested, i started both a Flickr spot and a blogspot team for fabric artjournals. They aren't just journals covered in fabric, they are every page worked in various textile techniques, whatever your fancy desires! We welcome beginners and advanced as well. You can see us at http://fabricartjournals.blogspot.com or http://www.flickr.com/groups/fabricartjournals/

It looks very cool - I like the '70s theme! I'm always grateful when I come across cool ideas that look like I might be able to make them  Roll Eyes
