blondiekate....you sent instructions how to remove wine labels...can you please share....i tried to soak a really cute label (green with red lady bugs) off of a bottle over the weekend....but it didn't work!!! i'd be mighty thankful if you could share your "secret"?
I'd be happy to!  Takes some patience, which I REALLY don't have!  But it can be done.

Most labels now are those self-adhesive kind, so this method is pretty slick.  Pour boiling water into the bottle, and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.  Working very slowly, peel up the label.  Be very careful, because the bottle will be HOT.

BTW, I got the directions from here:  http://www.winelabels.org/remove.htm

For the coaster, that was easy.  I stained the wood (colored stain), then sealed it.  I placed a bottle in the middle, then glued my corks around it.  Thought it'd be cooler to put the "stained" end of the corks on top, so you could see the colors (they worked well with the wood stain).

I also got the corks from someone on Freecycle.  I even have some left!  (my supplier apparently loves Fat Bast*rd wine, which I thought was a riot)  You could also ask bars, restaurants, or friends to save.  One of our favorite restaurants has a 3-foot vase on their bar with corks.

The idea of someone having to ask for corks cracks me up. I have been saving mine for years and am overrun with them! I love the way they look in baskets and glass containers. I have gotten pretty picky lately about which ones I save, because it's starting to look a bit excessive!  Cheesy

I received from boygirlparty!  I'd like to say that she packages things wonderfully.  And I did a double take on her handwriting because it looks like a Word font!
Anywho,  to the pictures!

Wine glass ties      Magnets with quotes about wine

Award pins: "the driver"--drives us home! "cheap date"--cannot hold their liquor "the expert"--knows their wine "the PhD"--gets philosophical

Wine Tasting Notes    Hand-painted coasters

Beautiful, I love it all!  Thank you, boygirlparty!

Hey folks!  I was finally able to open up my package from recycled_earth!  I love everything!!  But I'm tired, after driving for 14 hours yesterday (never again).  So I'll post pics tomorrow, as well as pics of the wines we picked up on our travels (two words: margarita wine).

Till tomorrow night! (while the wife is off at a quilting thingy)
