....for my 22nd birthday, does that make me a dork?

Its not incredibly impressive;  my first attempt at 3-D cake decorating....and since I'm too lazy to pull out the cake decorating tips, my main tools were a butter knife, my fingers, and a sandwich bag with the corner cut off.  That having been said:

from the front -

a side angle to show the back turrets -

I built the castle base out of graham crackers, the towers/turrets are ice cream cones, and the whole castle is glued together with tons of melted chocolate.  I remember seeing the ice cream cone idea in one of my sister's goofy "parenting" magazines a couple of years ago.....dumb mag, cute cake pic.

So, your thoughts?

"crappy"... "cute"...
"idiotic"... "edible"...
"oh dear god, why hast thou inflicted this evil upon my eyes?  turn away child, turn away from satan before ye are cast into the eternal hellfires of damnation"...

no, wait, sorry, that's a different kind of forum.... Tongue

as a side note, how badly does sarcasm translate into type?

I think your castle cake is beautiful!  I don't think 22 is too old for castles.  Especially black, gothish castles with kick-ass stars in the front garden.  In fact, now I'm thinking about making a castle cake for my husband's 24th.  Smiley

Ah, and yes, it looks very "edible."

wow! castle cake! guitar cake! when i was young i always really really wanted a  'swimming pool' cake with the water made out of blue jello. all taste/texture issues aside, it was awesome!

ice cream cones, of course! i will get right on it. copying you, that is.

I was cracking up reading your post. Since I was quickly scanning down the "hot new topics" page I hadn't looked to see who posted it...so I scroll back up and who should it be but YOU? Good grief, woman! Is there anything you can't do?

You must just run around beautifying everything.  Grin

Happy Birthday!
