I am re-doing my kitchen and realized that my pot holders dont match! I cant afford new ones, so I thought about how I could re-cover the old ones. It really was easy! I just folded the fabric I wanted to use in half with the right sides facing, put the pot holder on top and measured about a half inch all the way around and cut it out. Then I sewed it on 3 sides and turned it the right way. I stuck the pot holder in and sewed it shut. Ta-da, new covered pot holder. They key is to only use 100% cotton, as if you use a blend or a synthetic and it catches fire..it will melt and cause a way worse burn than cotton.

The ease of this project makes me want to make more!

those are really neat!  Is the fabric sewn onto the potholders or does it slip off for easy cleaning? Smiley

they are stitched on, and I plan on just throwing the whole thing in the wash, when necessary. If I had to take em off, it wouldn't be hard.

Love the pirate kitty icon, btw!

Thanks!  This kitty was actually on a shirt modeled by a girl.  I just edited everything else out, but the kitty. Which I love. Smiley

I'm gonna try to recover my misc. potholders and mitts as soon as I find some awesome fabric. Smiley
