OK, so it's been forever since I said in the discussion section that I'd post a pic once I got this one completed.  My first attempt I used craft foam for the sides, just to see if it'd work.  Well, it worked, so I used vinyl this time to make it look better.  I decided to put some smiley stickers on this one.  Oh, yeah to cover up the hole, I just used contact paper on both sides and put a sticker on top.

here's the side

and the front

That's so creative!

I just through out one of those CD's this morning! Oops! I should have known I could use it for SOMETHING.

It's sad, I know.  Smiley I was just in the mindset of "I'm sick of all this stuff in my bitty apt!"

Hey, I was working on something like that recently!  I used spoiled CDRs, and drilled through the edges much like it appears  you did.  I crocheted, instead of using vinyl.  I think your vinyl idea would keep the shape better, and match the style of the CDs better.  I did something different with the handles--I ran the two ends of the handle through the holes and knotted on the inside, so I closed the hole and had a solid anchor for the handle at the same time.  My attempt was pretty rough, though, and I took it apart.   Wink  I started a second attempt with four CDs (two on each side, next to each other), but I had trouble making it deep enough, since using two meant I only had half the height in the middle (does that make sense?  it did when I was looking at it).  That attempt was even ROUGHER, and I took it apart, too.  Then I lost interest and forgot all about it.  Now you've inspired me--I might have to do it right this time!

I'd love to see the attempts of others.  It's hard to see in the pics, but I just used eyelets to anchor the straps... my first attempt was very rough, I used craft foam and stapled the handle on... it held quite well for about 2 weeks of daily use, so it wasn't that bad.  I don't have a drill, so I used a wood burning tool to make the holes in the plastic, I'm not sure that would work on the cd's but it'd look cool if you could do it.
