I came across these two websites... www.makeachildsmile.org and www.anysoldier.com

Make A Child Smile features sick children and their addresses so you can send them encouraging mail and maybe even a little gift (a great craft opportunity!)

Any Soldier is a site where you can find the addresses of US soldiers who are overseas and have asked for mail from back home. Also, they list what kinds of items they need that you could send over, as well. Not exactly completely crafty, but I still thought it deserved a mention.

I checked out the anysoldier link, and it's really a fantastic site. Thanks for posting it. I'm sending out a care package this Sat.

Awesome! I'm so glad someone used the sites. I really liked the ideas of both of them. Anyway... thanks for replying. Smiley

I like the make a child smile! What kind of things do you make to send them? I want to send them something, but don't know what to make for them. I don't sew, knit, or crochet. So, do y'all have any ideas?

Both of these sites look awesome and I'm bookmarking them both. Thank you Laney. I just want to put out there that the soldiers that are over there really do appreciate the care packages, my neighbor was telling me about a family that "adopted" him. I won't get into it, but I can tell you that even though he never met those people when he talked about them it sounded like he still felt connected, and he will never forget what they did for him.

A couple of more links are http://www.hugsandhope.org and http://www.postpals.co.uk, both are for sick kids.

I used to be featured on one of the "sick kid" sites so I know first hand what a difference it makes.

I am disappearing into hospital until atleast  mid-late October, so PMs will be very late in getting answered.

anysoldier.com is a great sight and cause!  Was just at a party today that had 'split the pot' ($1 per ticket), half the money to the winer and half to make up boxes for anysoldier...

Just wanted to give an update. I sent a box out to anysoldier.com, not expecting anything in return (duh), but just the other day I received a touching 3 page letter from one of the soldiers that received the box. I have to say I teared up, and it made this experience all the more worth it. I'll be making up another box soon. Thanks soooo much for pointing us in the direction of these wonderful charities.
