I made this barbeque apron for my father-in-law for his father's day present.  This picture is just a scan of the embroidery design because my husband stole my camera this morning, but I'll add a picture of the whole thing being an apron later.

The design is about 9X7 inches.  I used my embroidery machine with my multihoop and a couple of rehoopings.  It could easily be translated into hand embroidery (you have my permission to use the idea for hand embroidery, I designed and digitized it).  If I did it by hand, I'd probably use outlining for the hot dog and and letters, and maybe long and short stitch for the fire parts.

To attach the embroidered fabric to the apron, I pinned it in place, then used a long narrow zig zag stitch to hold it in place.  Then I used a wide very short zig zag stitch to satin stitch it in place applique style.  The apron is a ready made to decorate one that I picked up at Michaels.

I'm running to the craft store... now I finally know what to give for Father's Day! Of course, instead of the embroidery, my dad's getting ghetto puffy paint cheapo version.  Grin

Thanks guys, glad you like it.

Pixelpusher, I used pe-design to digitize it.  My machine is a 4x4 inch sewing area.  The multiposition hoop has three postitions, but they overlap so it does a design that about 4x6.  The whole thing is one multiposition file with another one underneath it.  So it's like two files on the computer, but on the sewing machine it shows as four.  There's a file for each postion and two positions used in each hooping.

And, as promised:  A picture of it being an apron!

Notice the lovely aim'n'flame holster.  It says "Packin' Heat".  That's my husband's favorite part.  He wants me to make him one and we don't even have a grill.   Grin
