I totally remember making these giant easter eggs as a kid!  I think I used some sort of sugary mixture instead of glue, resulting in a crystally effect when dry.  Does that ring a bell to anyone?

sweeta magreeta - I think the sugary mixture you're remebering might be some kind of home-made starch mixture. I remember doing this, too, and I think that's what I used. Unfortunately I don't know how my grandma made it.

Hmm...  I've never used them myself, but since you're using glue, could you also use this project with those microbeads?

Been nursing a cold and going through old posts.

Thought it was timely to bump this one back up to the top of the list.

This is great, I have two little ones (aged 6 & 2) and we've been making home made Christmas ornaments for our tree this year.  We've made the cinnamon ornaments that you cut with cookie cutters and we've made a bunch of felt ones (I even modified the felt sushi cat toys from another thread), so these will be fun to add to our tree too.

Thanks to the original poster and to the person who ttt this thread.

For my 8th grade prom, we made these with candles inside.  We used BIG balloons and small string.  We left a hole in one side.  We put the candle on the table and placed the balloon over it.  Love the smaller version.
