I'm starting on on a cross-stitched bag with the same picture and message on it as my icon (technically, it's the other way around, I used the base picture I used to make the pattern as my icon)

Bob-omb from Mario (Nintendo), quote from Zero Wing (Master System).  I'm just covering all my bases.  Grin

I've seen a lot of other video-game/pixel art based work lately, anyone else inspired by them?  I could use the moral support, I'm terrible about leaving projects half-finished Wink

Well, here's how it's going so far:

Why did I start with the lettering?  Because out of all the colors I need for the pattern, black was the only color I had on hand.  Embarrassed  Oh well, trip to the store tomorrow...

Holy crap, you are my hero. I think your idea is glorious and I may have to start my own Nintendo-inspired project... It's really too bad that you can't participate in the Nintendo/Video Game Swap because you haven't been here a month yet Sad

ps: Your quote at the bottom of your profile is awesome. So is your user icon.

Yeah, I was sort of interested in the swaps, but I get all weirded out by the thought of giving out my address - heck, a lot of my friends don't even know where I live.

Anyway, continuing progress (after a delay to finish up some birthday presents over the weekend)

Just to let you know you're not the only one...

I'm going to do something with these, I just don't know what yet...

I thought I'd share them with anyone who wants them (drew them myself!).

I'd like to do some Nintendo stitching.  How do you guys get your patterns?  Do you just look up sprites and do cross-stitching that way?  Or do you actually have patterns that somebody sells?

How would one go about making them "bigger?"  I mean, most of the sprites out there are fairly small, which end up being a great size I guess for towels and pillow-cases, but what if I wanted to give one as a gift, like a "large" Mario on a pillow?

Anyway, let's revive this stitchalong and get some good Nintendo action going on! Smiley

I use the sprites, though I run them through http://www.darklilac.com/upload.jsp anyway to get a good list of corresponding floss colors.  You might be able to make the pattern larger just by doing 4 stitches for every pixel (or 9 or however large you want it.)

I'll play around and see if I can come up with a nintendo image Smiley

I just created my first craftster pattern!  Check it out:

I'll try to make another one later that has an original NES controller and says "Old School" above or below it Smiley

I'm debating whether or not to do embroider a Princess Peach.  Smiley
