Nintendo/Videogame stitchalong?

I'm starting on on a cross-stitched bag with the same picture and message on it as my icon (technically, it's the other way around, I used the base picture I used to make the pattern as my icon)

Bob-omb from Mario (Nintendo), quote from Zero Wing (Master System).  I'm just covering all my bases. 

I've seen a lot of other video-game/pixel art based work lately, anyone else inspired by them?  I could use the moral support, I'm terrible about leaving projects half-finished

Why did I start with the lettering?  Because out of all the colors I need for the pattern, black was the only color I had on hand.    Oh well, trip to the store tomorrow...

Yeah, I was sort of interested in the swaps, but I get all weirded out by the thought of giving out my address - heck, a lot of my friends don't even know where I live.

I'd like to do some Nintendo stitching.  How do you guys get your patterns?  Do you just look up sprites and do cross-stitching that way?  Or do you actually have patterns that somebody sells? 

How would one go about making them "bigger?"  I mean, most of the sprites out there are fairly small, which end up being a great size I guess for towels and pillow-cases, but what if I wanted to give one as a gift, like a "large" Mario on a pillow?

Anyway, let's revive this stitchalong and get some good Nintendo action going on!

I use the sprites, though I run them through http://www.darklilac.com/upload.jsp anyway to get a good list of corresponding floss colors.  You might be able to make the pattern larger just by doing 4 stitches for every pixel (or 9 or however large you want it.)

Whoa, Darklilac is awesome!  soooo much better than PC Stitch and it doesn't cost anything!!!
