Apparently Winnipeg has a Chinatown...myself I have been here for over 10 years and have never heard of it or been there...ok I suck.

My bf says it's near the exchage, which for me is an adventure in itself.  I'm wondering if anyone has been there and what kinds of shops there are...is it worth the trip?

I am looking for shops that sell maybe fabric or pattern books or just general really cool Asian stuff.

Anyone been?

No i haven't been able to find one. I actually got into this conversation with someone the other day. I was talking about going down to Osborne, and then i thought, do we have a Chinatown? Someone told me yes, and someone else said no. I always kinda figured we didn't.. at least I'VE never seen it.. hm..

Apparently there is a SUPER good dim sum restaurant there with a great happy hour (cheap!) after 2:00pm.

...oh elusive Chinatown...will I ever find you...

I've been near it too, but where it actually is is beyond me.

EDIT:
My dad just told me that William and King are near Chinatown.
North End of the Exchange District. (But I don't know where that is either.)
Hope that helps.

It's off Main Street, as the person above said it's near William and King and it's the North end of the Exchange District. It's not huge by any means, it's a grouping of a couple of blocks with stores and restaurants and the Chinese cultural building/centre.
And yes the Dim Sum place in it is cheap and sooo goood! I totally blank out on the name though. I also like the grocery stores there.
