Finally, after years of on-and-off work (literally) I have finished my first full-sized cross stitch!  I embroidered the date as 2005 because I finished up everything except for a tiny part back in November.  I ran out of one color, and apparently the company that makes this cross stitch kit does not use DMC floss, so I was SOL for a little while.  It turns out their website will send you more if you run out though!  This is the "beautiful bird" from Dimensions.  I'm sure you've seen it at your local craft store.  Wink

Here is a closeup of it.  Click here to see the whole thing!:  http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a219/ehawxhurst/crafty/peacock.jpg

stunning, I love to embroider but for some reason, I just cant finish any cross stitch stuff I start. I think it would make a gorgeous wallhanging or even a purse.

That's so pretty.  I love the worn look of the border.  Isn't it so fun to finish something big.  I'm still working on my first big cross stitch - I've finished others since I started, but they're all half the size.  When I finished the x-stitch part, I was almost a little sad, but then after weeks of working on outlining and AWFUL metallic thread french knots (which are impossible, I should add), and making your own cording (with metallic thread of course!)  I'm ready to be done with the thing.  Wink

Thanks for all the kind words everyone!

I was planning on framing this and hanging it on my wall, but it's being difficult.  I bought a frame, mat, and mounting board from Michael's today...the inner mat obscures part of the cross-stitch, so I can only use the outer mat.  Bummer, because the inner mat provided a nice little punch of color.  Plus, both the mat and the mounting board are like a millionth of an inch too big to fit into the frame.  And I don't have an exacto knife.  And the damn Michael's is a half hour away.  Sad  Booooooo.

Once I actually manage to frame this thing I'll take another picture.  Smiley
