I've also heard that uploading pictures to Flickr can help your exposure, just be sure to follow the rules and guidelines.

Also try twitter, but I find the constant spam a bit annoying anyone else have that problem? I post items I list but I also like to talk to other twitters and put up info and things.

Showing your work and handing out business cards in craftster swaps!

like http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=324053.0
for jewelry makers

Its a low cost opportunity to stretch your crafting ability and it shows off your stuff.
Maybe not exact items from your shop but it gets your name out there.

I don't think your partner would hate you for including a business card. Maybe they will be a potential sale. If nothing else it shows what you can do.

There are several ways you can advertise your Etsy shop.

1. Is through friends, family, and co-workers

2. Online through craft social networks such as Twitter, FaceBook, MixxMade.com, ByHand.me, Indiepublic, etsylove.ning.com, etc.

3. Re-listing your items always helps but it adds up

4. Paid advertising through ProjectWonderful, Adwords, Adbrite, Etc.

5. Classified ads such as Craigslist

6. Build a Facebook fan page for your shop. Chance is most of your friends and family are already on there

7. Also, article writing which is great for viral marketing

I have recently begun advertising and allowing others to advertise on my blog through Project Wonderful. Its super easy and you can advertise on some sites for free (for example, the starting bid on my blog is $0). Anyways, it is just another way to advertise your Etsy shop if you have the time. You can check it out by going to my blog at http://hooksofhope.blogspot.com and clicking on the Project Wonderful link/ad button or you can go to their website at http://www.projectwonderful.com.

I was able to talk a coffee shop into letting me put up display in store if I donated X amount from each item to their favorite charity. Business cards are in each bag.  We both win

IrishMissy ~ That is great that the coffee shop is letting you do that.

I am still stuck on where to promote my shop.

I did create a fan page on Facebook
I made an event on Facebook and send invites to everyone in my friends list
I tried Etsylove and yaami

I am still trying to find other places I can promote and advertise my shop Smiley

thanks for all of the ideas

Put your business card in books...

Go to Barnes & Noble or Borders and just tuck them between the pages of the new arrivals or best sellers. It might work. I've been meaning to try it out myself.
