Advertising your Etsy shop!

Hi Swagger,

I'm sorry it isn't as clear as I wish it could be - I would love to have suggestions. I wish I could remove the Suggest Link from the homepage, but the program that runs the site doesn't allow for that.

Visit the category (the list on the left side of every page) and maybe subcategory that you think your site would best fit in. Once on that page, click on "Suggest Link" on the menu at the top just below the logo. Then simply fill in your information including your tip. (Pretty much every directory works the same way - other than the tip part - that's uniquely mine.)

I took a peek at your sites and love your blog (commented on the "Ode to Yolanda" post too).

I would suggest you visit the Sewing section and see where you might want to add your blog. If you would like, I could add a blog sub-category, I have them in some of the other categories.

Based on what's in your Etsy shop, I would suggest either sewing or the Purses category.

you gave me some good ideas! I promote on livejournal.com in there selling communities (there is alot) as well as deviantart and I'm about to get 2 more places to promote my stuff.

Good idea about the tshirt! I was thinking of making a little badge or something and put it on my purse :p

I've been doing the craigslist posting, and adding folks on myspace (& posting comments), and posting in the etsy forums but it's slow going and hard to do it a lot so you often get buried before you get seen.  I'm definitely going to try more *physical advertising*, ie: flyers around my neighborhood, job, etc.  I just need to make some up, now.

I've only just really got the shop up and running but I've asked everyone I know on facebook to share a link to my shop on their facebook page. I know a lot of people advertise their music that way so I figured why not crafts?

A catchy phrase like, "Looking for something unique?"
your shop name, the items you make, an email address, your website, perhaps a picture of what you make or your logo. You could also have little tear-off strips at the bottom of the flyer with your shop address on them. You could take the information you want on the flyer, and take to a copy shop- they could design and make the whole thing for you if you aren't into computers.
