This is another xmas gift I am now free to post. My best friend is obsessed with foxes, and sheep and pirates, not necessarily in that order. I bought a set of nesting boxes and painted the outsides and lined the insides and bottoms with paper. The outermost box is fox-themed. The coat-of-arms she drew in a self-portrait once. I asked if the circles indicated she is a Medici, but she said it was about good fortune, so I painted them gold.

The middle box is sheep-themed:

And the innermost box is pirate-themed. The shape of the boxes reminded me of treasure chests.

I decided that the "treasure" inside the chest would be a mini Zen garden (inspired by Craftster Zen gardens in Altoids tins). Inside is a photo of a Torii gate, a small origami box containing sand from near my home (my best friend lives 6000 km away) a few choice pebbles and a small clay bridge bought in Chinatown.

Here is the underside of the boxes:

Here they are in their new home:

What a great gift! I'm always on the lookout for fox images, and this inspired me!

Fox: 1. (n) Animal of the genus Vulpes, having an elongated, pointed muzzle and bushy tail; 2. (adj) Cunning; 3. (slang) Attractive woman; 4. (v) To intoxicate or befuddle; 5. (v) To discolor (the leaves of a book)
Neither safe, nor a fox.

Those are awesome! I've seen the chests, but never thought to see if they nest. What a great way to make all three of her obsessions go together!

Know why chicken coops have 2 doors?

If they had 4 doors they'd be chicken sedans.
