Anyone help with a clothing problem?

I needle felted the Wing Commander (below), my first proper project. But I'm stuck on how to dress him. He only has a vest and thong (cheeky) but I'd really like to dress him in a uniform.

I am useless at sewing and cant find any clothes in dolls shops to fit let alone be appropriate so I was wondering if anyone could give me any hope lol. I obviously wouldn't mind paying for the right outfit.

He recently acquired glasses!

What a challenge!  Do you have links to any photos of military uniforms that would be appropriate for a wing commander?  You want clothes that can be put on and taken off again?  You do not want to needle felt a permenant uniform?  Is he a standard doll size, or would he need a custom sized uniform?  How detailed do you want the clothes?  Is he going to require shoes or boots?

Maybe start with a smoking jacket, silk pj pants and slippers.

He is so cute in his skivvies!

Oh now youv'e got me thinking smoking jackets!!

I didn't make him to any particular size, he just happened lol. I guess he was intended to be more of a "fibre sculpture" than a doll.

I would just like to put him in one outfit and leave him in it, so it doesn't really need to be removed, but it would be a bonus if it could be (does that make sense?) I think I really would like a smoking jacket, forget the uniform, I can just picture him in a satiny robe with a sash belt.

His measurements are:- across the shoulders - 4", sleeve length would be 4", overall length of smoking jacket would be 23" and the fullest part of his tummy measures 7.5" around.

If anyone could help me out I would gladly return the favor in any way I could. Kind of a one off unofficial swap. They would also get a credit on my web site so if I am ever rich and famous I'd remember them. (OK so now I'm creeping!)

Oh wow! He is heftier than I thought. LOL.  Probably too big to use a vintage tie to make the smoking jacket.  But maybe for the collar and cuffs & lapels.  Way too funny.  This project just tickles me.  If you don't get any quick takers, pm me.  I am swamped until after Feb 3rd.  and would not be able to manage such experimentation until after that time.  Expect if you must wait for me, we can negotiate a fun exchange.   Grin

The Wing Commander is brilliant! Good luck with the clothes. I have trouble believing someone so handy with needles to have made him coudln't make him a fabulous outfit Wink ... but I hope you can work something out.

Wow GraceO thanx.  Grin

I am in no hurry to dress him, he just looks a little cold since its the middle of winter here!

Some kind of swap would be great fun.

There are more pics of him on my website for anyone curious!

He's cute! Did you find glasses that size or did you make them yourself?

I found the glasses while rummaging through my mums craft stuff!

They are 'real', well the glass is plain but I dont think that bothers him!

Maybe you could like tape him up so the clothes won't get stuck on him and felt clothes over that?
