I'm in.  I've just really started getting involved with my knitting though I've been doing a garter stitch for the past ten-ish years.  So I guess I'm somewhere between novice- and mildly advanced-knitting depending on what it is....

I've never made a sweater before and I'd like to -- it's either going to be one of these found patterns:

Jumper with Tassels -- Mermaid Mesh -- or this sweater from one of my more recent doodles!

I'll be knitting this from Patons Street Smart booklet:

I'm using Knitpicks Wool of the Andes in Iron Ore.

wootwoot, that's gorgeous!

I'm in for something. I'm such a sucker for masochistic knitting projects... I'll go with this one, from Viking Patterns for Knitting, if I can find suitable yarn in the stash (are we allowed to swatch before opening ceremonies?)

(it's the orange one, in the first picture. I'd just do the sweater, not the hat.)

I just signed up just now my event?  My first sweater and it has cables, but I love cables so it's not really a challenge.

i would say that as long as finishing the sweater in 16 days is a challenge for you, then there's no question that it's totally acceptable.
i love lace & cables.  my pattern falls in the lace category...  but, it's still going to be a challenge for me to finish it in 16 days.

remember that the athletes are the best in the sports that they are competing in,  & are entering the events they are best at.

Oh yeah no question I will be challenged I'm actually a little frightened at the prospect of doing my first sweater but I'm sure the Olympic athletes are a little frightened before they compete.  I just have to find my yarn.

Ooh, that will be a beautiful sweater, cotneyroo!  And yeah, we can swatch all we want (Stephanie called it "training".)

This is Rogue.

I've done sweaters, I've done cables, but a.) not both at the same time and b.) cables quite like these... I can tell this is going to drive me crazy! :-)

I hear your pain... I printed out the pattern today and immediately thought 'Oh dear lord, what the hell have I gotten myself into?' I think I'm going to have to colour code the charts to make them a little easier to read. Argh.

Yes.  It's counted as "practice" for the real event  Wink

Oh!  And, I made a generic TEAM USA button for anyone interested in using it (please be merciful on my bandwidth):

This is gonna be soooo much fun.  A bunch of us are having an Openning and Closing party.  I love the Yarn Harlot!

I'm a fairly new knitter.. its been a few months since I've learned, but I think I'm ready for my first sweater... and I"m thinking about doing this:

http://knitty.com/ISSUEwinter04/PATTcathode.html

Now, I just need to decide on some yarn! I'm thinking semi-cheap because 1. its my first sweater and 2. I'm lacking in the yarn fund dept. right now.

I'm super excited to give sweater knitting a go!  Cheesy
