i decided to finish my first wrap skirt today.
(my mirror is dirty, and so are your thoughts.)

the front.

the left.

the right side. after much tugging and readjusting, i remembered that i have a black girl's booty, which means that the back of the skirt is just going to appear longer than the front, unless i compensate for said rise in back and alter the pattern (which i will in the future. not now.)

I like- no- LOVE that fabric!
Did you use a pattern or did you sorta make it up?

the black edging is double fold quilt binding--i thought regular bias binding might get lost with that busy pattern. i bought a huge amount of that fabric, but i can't remember where from. and now i've only got two small pieces left. Sad

i've got a thing for African wax prints, especially if they're used in unexpected ways.
thanks for the love.

and i made the pattern myself. it was easy. i just measured my waist, the fullest part of my hips, and the distance between the two. i then halved the waist measurement, drew a horizontal line of that length, and then a vertical one the length of the distance between my waist and hips. i just extended the line, at the same angle, to the length that i wanted.

i am using this same pattern to make a circle skirt right now. i'll post the results as soon as i'm done.

I have the same booty problem ( good thing my man likes big booties hehe) when I make skirts I always have to add 2 inches to the back length and always a couple of darts to revent gaposis. I love that fabric, you always do such neato stuff.

hee! i'm gonna pull it apart tonight, and make darts in the panel closest to my body, and the back one. i'm also going to curve the front panel so that it's not asymmetrical anymore. Smiley
