I had been knocking around an idea for an argyle headband. Add that to two saucy little balls o' Koigu, a tempestuous relationship with my size 2 needles and here we go, here we go, HERE WE GO!!

Excel made graph paper

Blockin that motah scootah

On my head

I don't really have a pattern. If anyone really wants, I can write one up lickety snap.
Thanks for lookin!

***EDIT***

Ok, I made up a chart. I *hope* it's accurate. There may be some errors, as I only made the one headband, and didn't write down what I was doing as I was doing it as well as I could have been. Maybe I should have....

http://www.ladyspankington.com/chart.html

The chart has all of the instructions at the bottom. If you see any errors, please messge me asap, and I'll correct it as soon as I can.

I wore this out today, and it kept my head suprisingly warm, I guess cause it's wool and with the colorwork, it is double thickness. Good stuff! As soon as I'm done the baby argyle sweater I'm working on, I'll definitely be knitting another headband, but I think I'm gonna knit rediculously long i-cords with pom-poms on the ends. And probably in some henoius-but-fun colors...

I love the colors - yummy argyle goodness.... It reminds me of the year my bachelor uncle Vern gave us girls argyle socks for Christmas... When you're a six year old girl...it was a disappointing gift to say the least.

I'd like a pattern too Smiley

Even if you don't wear headbands, but like argyle, you could take the chart and make something else. Like a purse. Or a belt---I'm not sure how I feel about knitted belts in general but this might rock as one.

Thanks for the compliments everyone, I'm so flattered! I tried to address what I could in the pattern, but if I forgot anything, just post it and I'll try and get to it soon as I can. Also...

A few of you mentioned that it probably takes a along time to knit this. It's not too bad actually. I did this in just a few days. It was like: go to class early, knit a pattern repeat, go grab a cup of coffee, knit another pattern repeat. It's only 26 stitches wide and the pattern repeat is only 12 rows and you do 8 pattern repeats. But, if you aren't used to size 2s, and having to keep the tension right and keeping the floats loose enough, it can be trying. Once you get started though, it's a breeze. And remember, blocking is your friend. Mine looked like crap until I blocked it, and now, it doesn't curl under at all, and the stiches look even and pretty.

Thanks again!

Thank you so much! I don't have any size 2s so it'll have to wait a bit, but when I do... Smiley My head will so totally rock this.

Yeah---This about all I'd have the patience to knit something on size 2s with. Those people with the size 2 shirts are like gurus or something I can't do it. This is perfect though.

Oh I know! I knit socks and other small things with my size 1s and 2s, but beyond that, no way. I value my vision and the joints in my hand too much.

I decided to give the headband a go and used leftover turquoise and black lamb's pride nature spun sport on my beloved size 2 bamboos. I did 8 pattern repeats and somehow ended up with the chart telling me to decrease on the wrong side. I didn't do that, I decreased on the right side. An overall shot of me wearing it:

And a more detailed shot. My hair looks shiny here.

Thanks! The glasses came from Lenscrafters. They come in other color combinations too, but I liked the black/white/clear best. They slide down a lot because the ear pieces don't curve very much, but I love them anyway.

I am a lucky girl since a friend made and gifted me this headband!  I was so inspired that I decided to overcome my fear of fair isle.  So I whipped up this version of the headband with hearts just in time for Valentine's Day using Cascade Fixation.

Well the South American brand Fixacao which I suspect is actually Fixation.
