...are the best.  i needed to make something amazing for my boyfriend's mom for her birthday.  i had one day.  five hours later i completed this little diddy...

and a close up of the stitch....

i hate tassels, so i decided that for a border i would have some fun.  i played around a bit and made a cutsy little ruffle.  needless to say, she loves it.  blue is her favorite color.  i used hand-me-down yarn and 5 hours.  best ever.

this is my next creation (in progress):

what do you think?

Wow. Wow! How did you do it?!

really, extremely easy.  I used a Q hook and 3 strands of yarn held together as one.

it was a very basic shell stitch.  [dc1,c1,dc1] on the second row you use that same stitch but you do it in the ch1-sp.

super easy.

as for the ruffle... first i did a basic sc border, just one round.  3 sc on the corners.  then i did 2dc in each sc for one round.  to make it ruffly... i just put the first 2dc in the front of the 1st sc.  the 2nd 2dc in the back stitch of the 2nd sc.

any more questions.. just let me know.

I love them, and I can't believe it only took five hours. I've got to try it.

The time it took you to create the afghan is incredible!  You must be really fast!

honestly, I'm average.  Give it a shot.  It is insane how quickly it grew.

I've used that stitch for baby afghans and scarves.  It works up really fast and looks very nice.  It's my favorite no-fail, quick stitch.
