I received my final package from seaofstars yesterday! Sorry I didn't post last night, but I've been having a bear of a time getting a good shot of this bag -- black fabric = hard for me to photograph (I'm not the most skilled photographer... obviously). Seaofstars, if you have better photos, please post 'em!

I asked for a tote bag for carrying groceries... preferably, with a skull applique on it. And that's what I got!

Here's the (not so great) photo of the bag:

And here's a close up of the applique!

Thanks so much for everything! Your thank you note will be in the mail tomorrow!

Seaofstars, you seriously impress me with your appliqueing skills. What type of machine do you have? Mine is a brother and it will NOT applique for me. The zigzag stitch is so uneven and wonky its impossible. Do you have tips you want to share?

That is a great tutorial. And here's a funny story along the lines of "It's a small Craftster, after all." I used seaofstars' tutorial to try my first attempt at applique on this bag for another swap. (Sorry -- no close up on the applique... but it did come out great!) before I knew that she was crafting for me in the FOC swap.

When I figured out it was her (accidentally, by looking at her blog through another awesome post she had), I put it all together and realized, "Hey -- the person sending me all this awesome stuff is also the same person who taught me to applique!" Cool, eh? She's amazing on all fronts!

Sorry for my slow reply, but I finally have my computer back!  Grin

I actually use a cheap-o brother at the moment. I had a Kenmore which appliqued beautifully, but after it took a leap of death off of my sewing table, I had to settle for the brother. It is a bit wonky, but I've managed to find the exact setting that works best.. although it still gives me a bit of trouble!

Just play with your tension and stitch lengths/widths until you find the "perfect" mix. I mark those settings on my dials so I can go back to them at any time.   Smiley

I'm so glad that you like your tote kaesea, and I'm so sorry about being so late!

I got my final package and my Secret FOC was Christinanne! This is what I received for my final package (the windchime, not the lobster lights, those I've had for awhile):

Thanks Christinanne!
