Spotlight is alright, it's located on colombo down the sydenham end. Since you live on Papanui road, it should be pretty convinient for you - buses go straight from Papanui to Sydenham (eg 10, 11,13 and I'm sure theres a few more). plus it's not too far from town to walk.

Hands is a bead/craft shop which is also on your side of town, but I just can't remember the address sorry.

Neither of these shops are super cheap, and Spotlight would be the cheaper of the two, but they're not super expensive either.

Another thought is to try trademe.co.nz, just a thought Smiley

Hey, does anyone know of any places in CHCH that sell handmade crafts on behalf of the creators and keep a percentage of the profit? Because I know they exist in places like America and such, but does NZ have them? Does anyone else know what I'm talking about?

Are there cheaper bead shops anywhere around?
My work, Warren Agencies! We're a wholesaler, so everything's a lot cheaper, and we have a huge selection and so forth. We're on 78 Wrights Road, opposite Addington Raceway, come visit us sometime.

Anyone know where to get belt buckles from in chch, besides ripping up belts from op-shops?

Purple Patch works like that I think.  Some sort of co-operative.  They advertise on CTV a lot.  Seems to be older ladies though and quite traditional crafts.  The shop has moved, was on Ferry road as far as I remember.  There was a shop out in new Brighton that seemed to also work this way.  The tags on the crafts had peoples intials to track them when things sold.  It was half way down the mall on the right looking away from the beach.  Not been out there for a while so no idea if it is still there.

I bought some from fabric vision once... there's one in Northlands and one in town. But the selection isn't fantastic..
