Yay, thanks for that.
We still have millions of colouring books from when my brothers and I were young.
Maybe this should be yet another project to start for me...

Just earlier today, I went to the riccarton rd opshop. Boy oh boy, was it great.
Lately, I've been on this insane sari quest, and spent most of my time in fiji scouring markets for them. The only ones i found were either ugly or $100.
Almost as soon as I walked into the opshop, i found an orange and green sari sarongish strip of fabric (with ties on the sides) that was 50 CENTS!!!!!
Then, I proceeded to the stunning dress up/vintage section at the back(which wasn't included in the 1/2 price everything sale), and saw a little bit of pink fabric peeking out at me. Wadaya know, it's a gorgeous pink sari, about 1m x 1m. It said $8, which is a bargain in itself. Then, the kind lady at the counter decided to give it to me half price!
Now, draped across my bead, I have the two of them looking awesome, in my bedroom in which the only colour scheme is "bright".
I could've bought everything in the shop, but i didnt bring that much money!
What a great place.

I got a blue one in there a couple of months ago!

I want a proper, 9m sari.  My flatmate's in Sri Lanka at the moment, maybe I'll get her to buy me one.

How much was your blue one- and how much do full and proper ones cost?
I would so love one. So, so much.
Do you know of any other opshops that might have some- or any other shops at all? I am absolutely MAD for them, I want to have an indian themed bedroom eventually (after acquiring as many saris as possilbe).

Try the market in the square, I think someone there makes stuff out of sari fabric.
Proper saris are pretty expensive.  I'm hoping to go to India sometime soon and when I do I'm going to buy heaps of them!  Sometimes I listen to Apna FM (Indian radio station that you can get on Sky) and there's an ad for a sari shop in Auckland, but I don't know where exactly as I can't understand the Hindi!

What I also want is recycled sari yarn.  Apparently this place: http://www.dyepot.co.nz/products/ will have it soon, but they've been saying that for ages.  Oh, and there's also some up on trademe.  Which may also be a good place to get saris...

Those ones on trademe are so pretty. I wish i was rich, I really do.
Are there any indian shops in chch, or shops that stock saris, or even sari-ish fabric? I just love the way it looks so, so much.

P.S. You never answered my Q- how much did you pay for the blue one?

I saw some sari-ish fabric in Spotlight the other day.  There was a bit in the remnant bin Smiley There was gold woven in sari style along one side on a bronzy toned fabric.  Might be worth a look (or a phone call) to see if they have what you are after.
