I made this skirt! I used a tee to make the waistband and the skirt itself is just a plain rectangular piece of fabric with some improvised pleats. I've been hopping around in it all day so this is actually something I'm going to be wearing (unlike the other things I've sewed so far Smiley)

oh before I forget: does anyone know how to iron these pleats in permanently?

Sorry, I don't know how they get pleats to stay so pleaty. Huh But that is the cutest skirt I've seen all week! I bet you will get tons of compliments every time you wear it! Grin

Very nice! I luvers the blueness ^_^
I have this super old book (1970s or something) and it says that there are 'Pleaters' that can do it... but other than that I'm not sure what else would keep pleats .... as pleats.
And I'm not sure where you'd find a 'Pleater' O.o
^^; I know I didn't help, but I just like posting Tongue hehe

To help with the pleats you can "cheat" and topstitch or sew very close to the pleat/fold.  It'll help keep the pleat in place when you're hopping around and makes it super-easy to iron after it's been washed.  Most permanent pleated skirts are done are permanent press fabrics (not cottons, etc.)

Hope that helps!

Forget the skirt!  Look at those boots! Shocked

No but really, great job on the pleats,  I love the idea of using a tshirt as a waistband.

Thumbs waaaaay up.
