I am so excited! (hence, there is a lot of pics on this post)
I was in the middle of going through my "Eeww, i'm never going to wear that again" drawer and I came across this long, straight black skirt (see below) and thought "i can rebuild it... i have the technology".

BEFORE:
http://www.craftster.org/pictures/data/500/49196skirt_002.jpg

I shortened it, took it in at strategic places to make it more fitting, and added side pleats to make it more of a fishtail shape.  Also I added a bias strip over the top to cover my shoddy sewing job and add more "interest" shall we say...
I sort of based it on simplicity pattern 4787 but i didnt actually have the pattern to look at (i am WAY too cheap to buy it).

(excuse the messy room, and the dirty mirror)

It's pretty crappy sewing and the bias strip and hems are not straight but you can't tell if you're not looking closely. I am so proud! I can't wait to wear it out. Now I just need an excuse to wear it...

What do you guys think?

I love the side pleats! What a great makeover on a plain, boring skirt. You've inspired me to dig through my old stuff!

Know why chicken coops have 2 doors?

If they had 4 doors they'd be chicken sedans.

Wow, you lost 20 lbs by changing the cut. (not saying you look big or anything, but your version is VERY flattering on your body). Very good job.
