I made this one for a 13yo girl, she really liked it:

close up of the front (it hooks with a snap, then I sewed the zebra button over it for a better look, besides I LOVE that zebra!)

shot of whole purse hanging:

shot of interior (had a few problems with this)

Critique please, but be gentle!

SO cute. Love it. I like the little zebra button, and the zebra lining -- it sort of holds the whole theme together.

Organize, de-clutter, cle-- OH! Shiny!

I just love this idea, and your zebra purse is so neat!

Do you use a worn-out book, or buy for the intent of ripping the guts out?  So curious... Tutorial?  I'd love to make myself a wallet like that.

Great job!

Thanks!  I actually went to a garage sale and found a bunch of books with nice covers and then cut out the "guts".  I just followed the tutorial at http://www.rudehouse.com/Arystocrafts/craft_pages/purses.html

I made a couple of adjustments, like measuring carefully and sewing, THEN glueing it together.  She said to glue, then handsew.  That didn't work well with me!  It was a mess.  So I measured really REALLY carefully, machine sewed, then glued.  It seems to work well.

Thanks for the link... I really want to try this now!  It looks fun.  I'll just have to breathe deep and think happy thoughts when I take the book apart.  (Books are friends, not fodder.)   Cheesy

Aww, thanks guys!  I feel all warm and fuzzy now!LOL

I really fell in love with the zebra material and buttons.  Then the handle is black and white ribbon, but it's a really heavy ribbon.

I have a Dracula full color front book that I'm going to make also.  Hopefully my sister doesn't visit here!LOL  I bought black material with black embossed bats AND black lace with red bats.  I can't decide yet how I want to do that one, but it should be cool.

You're creation is so amazing! It brings me back to the eighties & the magazine purses, but who thought we could make them! So i tried to follow that link, but i didn't see a tutorial! Can you give me any more hints, links or whatever? i am learning crafty, but i am way a beginner, so i am not winging it so much, yet.
