http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=71611.msg683732#msg683732Special notes: I have made instructions like ‘to end of row’ because it is very easy to pick up extra stitches as you get going. And that is OK! Don’t frog! For crying out loud don’t frog! This is not a strict pattern!!!
Start by chaining 6 and join with sl st
st. Ch 6, *dc into round ch3* rpt from *to* 5 more times, join with sl st in the 3rd ch of beginning ch6
nd. Sl st in next 2 sts, ch6 * skip 2 sts dc into next 3ch (of prev row), ch3 dc onto dc of prev row, ch3* rpt from *to* 4 more times, join with sl st in 3rd chain of beginning 6ch
rd. Sl st in next 2 sts, ch6 *skip 2 sts, dc into 3ch (of prev row), ch3, dc onto dc from prev row, ch3 * rpt from *to* to finish as in previous rows join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning 6ch
th. Sl st in next 2 sts ch6 * dc into next ch 3 (of prev row), ch3 * rpt to end join with sl st in 3rd chain of beginning 6ch
th. Rpt row 4
th. Rpt row 3
th. Rpt row 4
th. Rpt row 3 at this point you will have a count of 35 “holes” made of ch’s and dc’s
th. Ch4 , *dc into first “hole” and ch1* rpt from *to* 16 more times, **dc into next hole, ch3* * rpt from ** to** to end (17 more times), join with sl st in 3rd chain of ch4 (from beginning of row)
th. Ch3 *dc into hole and ch1* rpt from *to* 16 more times, **dc into next hole, ch3** rpt from ** to** to end of row (17 more times). Join with sl st in 3rd ch.
th. Rpt row 10
th. Ch6 dc into space between 2nd and 3rd dc of prev row, * ch3, sk 3 sts dc into sp between next 2 sts (between 5 and 6 dc of prev row)* rpt from *to* 3 times, **ch3 dc into first hole of prev round** rpt to end of row join with sl st into 3rd ch of beginning ch6
th. Ch5 *dc int next hole, ch2* rpt from* to* to end of row sl st into 3rd ch of beginning ch5
th. Ch4 *dc into next hole, ch1* rpt form *to* 4 times, **dc into next hole, ch2** rpt from ** to** to end of row
th. To begin band, sc next row to end TLO (top loops only), join with sl st
th. Rpt row 15 decreasing to size by joining two top loops as one stitch (for an average adult head, do this every four or five sts to end).
th. Add decorative stitches in this row or continue to rpt row 15
th. Rpt row 15 or second row of decorative stitch
th. Rpt row 15 finish off weave ends in
