I'm volunteering for a local sex worker support group and next week they'Re having their annual festival. They had a bunch of sex shops donating things as door prizes, and I'm donating this vibrator cozy. I have a love of the rediculous, hence the googly eyes. I call him Buzz, the bee. Sorry about the crap quality of the pic

It's a Montreal based organization for the decriminalization of prostitution, as well as for the well being of sex workers. (Better protection, less harassment by police etc...)
The web site is http://www.lacoalitionmontreal.com/ if you're interested in finding out more :-)

I love that so much!  I have white and blue yarn right now - what can i make my vibrator into? a ghost?  a bird?  that seems weird.  i'll figure it out, i guess.
and now i'm very inspired to see if the DC sex worker support group - Helping Individual Prostitutes Survive - could benefit from a similar event...

Dandilion: Thnx!
Busylizzie: Yeah There'S a bunch of styles you could make. I love the ghost idea, a monster would be cool too. For christmas you could make a christmas tree of toy soldier. I'M thinknig of finding some toy fireman and construction helmets for them, lol. And I think checking out the DC organization is an awesome idea :d

I can't help but think how the "grandma's" of this board are probably quaking in their boots over all the new "toys" making their way to this board.

TOO FUNNY!  Thanks for the giggle!

I didn'T really have a pattern, but I'll tell you roughly what I did. (They may be weird instructions, I apologize in advance ;-)
1. Get a dildo, vibrator, or something of the approximate size.
2. Chain a few stitches (about 4-6) and attach the last loop to the first with a slip stich so that you have a circle.
3. Single crochet around the loop, adding stitches here and there until you have a circle that covers the head of the dildo, and is wide enough that it fold around the top.
4. Once it is the right size just crochet around and around until it makes a tube that covers the whole dildo.
And that'S it really. I added stripes, but you can do whatever you want. I used googly eyes for the eyes, pipe cleaners for the antennae, and felt for the mouth. Hope that helps!

I'm brand new to the boards here, and I just want to say how refreshing it is to see crafters that are not all prudish.  I'm 56, not a young chick by any means.  But I get so tired of the prudes I encounter online.

I love this vibrator cozy and plan to make one (or more) for a few of my close online friends, and at least one for myself.   Congratulations on your ingenuity, kymberlee!

Grin I so want to make one of these for a friend of mine.  Long story, very funny actually but not suitable for posting on Craftster.  Pack of women, "toy" store, comedy insues.  Unluckily, since this isn't a one size fits all and I'm not getting the measurements of her "friend", that's not happening.

BTW I MISS HOCKEY!!!!  I've been watching last year's games when they replay them on the TV channel that plays Columbus Blue Jackets.  I have also gotten my fix by going to, yes, non-pro adult games at the local rink.  I also miss the TV coverage that Canadian channels give hockey.  I spent a week in up there for work one season and it was heaven.  Every night: hockey!  Agh!  Sorry, I think I have a new topic of discussion. Wink

Oh boy, do I miss the CBC coverage from Canada!!!  Now that I'm in Missouri, Canadian coverage is non-existant.  We've been getting old games on the St.Louis Blues channel.  I actually found a NAHL Jr team about 40 miles away.  WHOOHOOO!!! As soon as my van is running I'm going up to Springfield to see some HOCKEY!!!

Sorry about hijacking this thread, but I'm in serious hockey withdrawl, or cantcha tell???  Grin

I'm trying my own cosy, but I doing it differenty, I've made a chain about 3 times the lenght of my vibe (making a circle with a chain of 4-6 didn't work for me). then single crocheting it until I get the right lenght of the diameter of the vibe, then crocheting the beginning to the end (& by then hopefully it won't be as long).  Oh, did I mention that I started to crochet about week ago? This isn't my first project by any means.

O.K. O.K. I've have my own cozy now, & I figured it would be a safer route to do some double crocheting for the cozy, since the single wasn't working for me either. I ended up with about 6 "lenghts" of the double with it being twice as long as my vibe. then I just single crocheted the two sides together (after I folded it in half) & came up with what I have right now.

The color job came from some sharpies.

While I repect Kymberlee's instructions, I've found my own to work with for Vibes/dildos. I basically chained to about three times as long as the vibe or dildo, then start to double crochet (by about 2 to 3 rows of it, it starts to "shorten" to about twice as long). For my Vibe mentioned earlier in the post I did about 5-6 rows of double, then I "folded it" vertically, & singled the sides (& the tip) together so it can hold the vibe. For a Dildo cozy I'm currently working on, again with a chain about three times as long as the dildo (what I'm working with is a Doc Johnson 6" long model from Toys in Babeland http://www.babeland.com/ , "Balls" included). This time, I did about 10 row of double. I'm not entirely done with it yet (I still have to finish singling & closing it) Plus, to make it "authentic", I want to make a "head" , using white yarn, while the rest of it, is pink. I'll show it when I can (Computer troubles, meaning I'm using the laptop currently, with no connections right now to a scanner, camera or printer).

ForevrBee,I'm dying to see your lastest cover when it's finished.  I have a friend that I'm wanting to make one for as soon as I get the measurements from her.  And thanks for the 'toy' website.  I have to say once again, thank you all for your open mindedness here.  It's so refreshing!

Here it is (with little or no probs. Must of been a "Mercury Retrograde" period)

With the cozy on the dildo (a vanilla flavored condom is underneath the cozy, so I won't have to be constantly cleaning the fuzz off).

The cozy alone (& at a better angle), you can see the detail better.

Pretty good for someone who just started crocheting over the xmas break.

Hey thats slick!  By vanilla flavored condom underneath the cozy, do you mean you have a condom on the dildo?  Man this might sound creepy.. but I got really excited when I saw this picture because I work a sex shop and we sell those dildos!  Cheers Smiley

Yeah ,the condom is on the dildo (I just happened to get a box of to experiment with something seen on ooopik's website http://myvag.net ) so the dildo wouldn't have any fuzz sticking to it.

You girls are amazing. I am too afraid of having some sort of unforseen death, like a car accident, and having my family going through my things and finding a vibrator! Already some of the stuff I do have is going to raise some eyebrows. But if I were not such a chicken sh** I would definitely make a little bunny cozy. Brilliant idea.

They sell some more discreet type vibes at this site:
http://www.somethingsexyboutique.com

They have on that looks like a lipstick!! But seriously, you shouldn't be ashamed if someone finds it. It's totally natural to masturbate. Noone will raise an eyebrow if they find a playboy somewhere in a guys room, why should they be shocked at a little vibrator?? I mean if you had like a giant 6 foot doublsided dildo then maybe you could shock someone, but vibes are pretty subtle. Smiley

that's so cute!
i'm gonna have to make one for my magic wand.  The rest of my toys get organized in a suitcase with lots of compartments, but the magic wand gets left out cause it gets used the most often, and it's a pain to reach the outlet it's plugged into.  Oh, but it's sad when it gets all linty or dusty.  But it's always been good to me, it totally deserves a sweater.

I LOVE Buzz the bee and I'm a gramma (well a step-gramma, anyway)!  The ghost vibe cozy, though, that idea is too scary!  Imagine it standing there by the bed, haunting you!! Hilarious, though! Personally I think of certain colors as very sensual/ sexy and most vibrators are so plasticky looking it might also be a nice idea to give your vibrator a truly gorgeous and sexy cozy, like with swirly rich colors and sparkly stuff. Or a cozy that would feel really good on your skin like super soft rich velvety chenille yarn...
