hey there, I've just returned from a trip to japan and thought I might add two yarn stores I came across whilst in Kyoto. They're both close to Kyoto Eki (the big main-line station, and the underground station is also called Kyoto). One is in the "porta" shopping centre (its all underground) and the other is in the basement of the Kyoto Observation Tower. The Porta yarn store is far nicer in terms of yarn, but the tower store has more knitting gadgets (nice bamboo needles, needle felting stuff) and cheap yarn (if you dont mind acrylic) although their nicer yarns are on the pricey side. There is also loads of beading stuff, and sewing stuff (actually, pretty much anything crafty you could think of)
I just thought I would add these up here, though i'm sure any locals amongst you will already know these and perhaps better suggestions?

bumping an old thread.

Out here in the countryside the yarn choices are limited but I will be spending about three weeks traveling after my contract is up (currently teaching in Japan) including spending a week in Kyoto. Any good places to get decently priced yarn?
