Well, it's 2 weeks late, but I've finally finished my mum's Christmas present!

I used 12 and a half balls of Plymouth Cotton (thank you Elann!) and it took me waaaaay too long! Grin

It's my own design, but I used the Barbara Walker book "Knitting from the Top".  The cable is from the Harmony Guide (220 Aran stitches, I think).

A ton more pictures can be found on my blog at this post

That's nice! And a perfect fit, too! Worth the wait, I'd say. Lucky mom!

I want to make a top down raglan for my mom. Your mom is sure lucky to get such a  beautiful sweater..

Lovely cardigan.

I read your blog on it, but thought I'd comment here where I wouldn't be anonymous.

I think doing a pattern would be great!

To address your concerns about putting one out:

1. So don't send it to Knitty.  It's a great spot, but not the only one.
2.  I'm not sure, but I believe there may be software out there that might help with the multiple sizes issue.  A little googling couldn't hurt.  As for doing them all yourself - and having all these sweaters sitting around your house-- =grins= that's what "test knitters" are for... I'll happily test-knit a size 2X...
3. That's what encouragement from others is for... go for it!
4.  Okay, I like a lot of Stef Japel's stuff, but she is not the only one to knit top-down raglans, and unless it's almost exactly like one of her pieces, I wouldn't worry about it.
5. =chuckles= How can it be wierd?  And after all, that's what the "be sure to check your gauge" line is all about.

Hope to see the pattern soon!

Mitz

I've finally written the pattern notes up and put them on my blog here

They are far from comprehensive, and so you should see them as more of a "recipe" or a guide, than an actual pattern.

It turned out that my notes were terrible!  I'm having a pattern published in Magknits in Feb or Mar, but my pattern is so much better for that - so if you see my name you don't have to panic!

EDITED - because I'm dumb (the link was duff)

i like the idea of using a recipie instead of a pattern . . . that's how i tend to use most of my patterns anyway.

I really like that! And, Arien is my youngest daughter's name (the one in my avatar over there). I also noticed on your blog that your birthday is Jan. 8th. Arien's is too!
