I have made a modification on the Kittyville hat... basically no ear flap as they don't suit me and I made it a little longer to cover my ears.  I made it with a removable red Hello Kitty style bow, which is just two strips of red stocking stitch sewed together with a safety pin to fasten it to the hat.  I have worn it out and loads of people said they liked it, including an old man at the garage.  I made the bow removable because without it is okay for wearing and looking less obvious and I thought I might knit some flowers and make it sort of interchangeable.

With the bow

Without the bow:

This was my first attempt at grafting (for the ears) and it was actually easier than I thought it would be Smiley I am not having my four week knitting anniversary, so I have just started to make the under-the-hoodie jumper... it was very scary.  I suppose I have to start somewhere!

Adorable! I've made the hat according to pattern and loved it, but like yours even better. Mayhaps I'll make one for my baby daughter (and if I really feel like dorking out, a bigger one for myself).

Anyway, great idea, it looks lovely on you.

Heh, thanks for all the lovely compliments... Elizabooth - a baby sized one sounds super cute... it was pretty quick to make, I used bigger needles and chunky wool... so it knitted up fast and is all snuggly and warm!

Looks GREAT!!!!!!  I really like it.  Good for you that you are attempting the under the hoodie sweater.  It's been a lil over a month for me, since I've begun knitting, and although I've eyed the under the hoodie sweater, it hasn't really made it to my "to do" list as of yet.  Please share with us as you work on it.

Oh that's awesome. I might have to steal it, even though the cat hats aren't really my style. I made a version-ish of the hat... it has a ribbed brim and it's cabled, and it has a pom pom instead of ears, but the basic idea was from that hat. Even though you would never be able to tell.

How cute! The bow looks great, and it looks so warm and comfy, especially since it covers your ears (I hate when hats don't do that). Nice job!
