Kewl! I have knifty knitter too. I've already made one scarf and I'm working one another right now.
Hopefully I can make a hat too soon.

My mom gave me a Knifty Knitter for my birthday in early December and said "I had better get a hat and scarf for Christmas!" My first hat was kind of boring, so I toted it around with me for a month asking anyone if they needed a hat until it eventually found a home. I made my mom an awesome scarf for Christmas, though, by using the small, blue one and wrapping around every peg but one... So, what you do is knit around as wide as you want the scarf to be, but then instead of continuing around in the circle, just turn around and knit back the other way.

The part that tripped me up at first was how to wrap the yarn so that it looked right on the edges... I found a little video that showed how to do it (the short answer is that you sort of always skip over wrapping the first peg on the row). Check out some of the movies on here if you are having trouble: http://decoraccentsinc.com/knittingloommovies.html

I was wondering, does it curl up when you do this?  I wanted to get one of the purple looms for scarves, but the places I've looked lately (Michael's, Walmart, and AC Moore) have been sold out. :/

Unfortunately, it does curl up a little. I scoured the internet for information about the knify knitter the day after I got it and I found some message boards where people posted about this problem. One woman's solution was to take it to her dry cleaner, another one said she ironed her stuff. I don't think I would try either of those things, but my girlfriend knitted a scarf with regular knitting needles and it also curled up around the edges. So, I don't think it has anything to do with the loom, or the fact that it's round.

I asked my mom where she got my loom, and she told me that she got it at Michael's where she lives--a whole set of 4 or 5 looms for only $9.99. A pretty cheap birthday present and she got a scarf out of the deal!

Na, not a stupid question...

You can use one of the round ones and make a flat panel (working around the loom to the last peg, then turning around) or  use hte purple rectangle.

I've used it for crochet before, but not this yet.  Did you use 2 strands?
