awesome beading rackycoo!  i instantly have visions of the chiquita banana lady and congo lines!  did you sew the beads to fabric and then onto felt and then glue it to the purse? or?  i know nothing about beading....but i think you have inspired me to learn!

This was my first beading project.
The fruit image was from a t-shirt that seemed a little flimsy. I pinned it to the felt to give it a bit more body, and then did the beading through both fabrics. It's not hard, just tedious. On straight runs, I did 3 beads a stitch, but on curves, it worked better to only do two at a time. When it was done, I attached it to the purse with some E6000, my favorite!

yippee for C.M.!   Grin

Nors, I'm SO glad you liked the purse!!

Nors' purse looks gray in the first pic, but it's been black all along; I didn't dye it.  I tore out the multi-part liner; removed the metal "badge" and the handles; cut the design (loosely based on Nors' ankle tattoo!); placed fabric behind the cutouts and hand stitched around each shape; created and sewed in a long shoulder strap; created a lining from satin-y black and added simple small green pockets on each side; glued in a velcro closure; and made a drawstring coin purse.

And that's all she wrote!   Wink

I don't see it this morning, either.  I wonder if it has something to do with the "maintenance" that went on last night.

Writer78:  What a brilliant idea!  I love what you did with that purse!

Thanks!  I actually nicked the idea from a magazine - Budget Living (which is where I learned about Craftster!) always has a project section each month.  I saved a page where they showed how to modify a pair of gauchos (long, skirt-like shorts) by adding a fabric pannel to the back, stitching around a design such as a flower, and trimming out the top fabric.  I thought it was clever and very simple, so I just modified the plan for my project, and away I went!!  I love Budget Living.
