Just a concept, not volunteering to run it, so feel free to "steal"...

How about sending your partner a paperback novel and also crafting her an item mentioned in the book?  You could pick an important, much-described item (suppose there is a sought-after bracelet that is central to the plot; you would read all descriptions of it throughout the book and then re-create it), or if you find a one-line mention ("Lady Elizabeth reached into her beaded handbag"), you can create the item, using your imagination to create its look.  If you did choose an undetailed/undescribed item, you would just need to make sure it fits into the era/"world" of the novel.  That is, if "Lady Elizabeth"s story takes place in the early 1800s, you would make a beaded handbag appropriate to that era, not a modern-looking clutch with a velcro closure and a beaded image of a pinup girl.

Make sense?  Sound interesting?

that sounds fun Smiley Getting a book and something handmade in the mail! That would be cool.
