New years project- Boombox Pedal Box! (PICS!)

I have been biting my nails all day to post this- I love it so much.  I went to see my boyfriend over New Years, and he was working on a pedal box for all of his new electric guitar toys he got for Christmas.  He asked me to stencil something on it, so of course I searched stencilry and we decided to go old school on it. 

My favorite part is that the handles line up so it looks he's carrying a boombox around to all his gigs.

The pedals are going to velcro onto that plexiglass eventually.


He also did a damn fine job of building it.  We enlarged the stencil to about 12x24 and printed it on 3 sheets of 8.5x14 legal paper.  I cut each section out and then he lined them up and taped them together, and I cleaned up the overlapping shapes.  We spray glued the heck out of it, ate some queso while it dried, and then spray painted it in silver onto his black pedal box (to match his guitar and amp- natch). Then he screwed on all the hardware while I cleaned up all the fuzzy lines with a black sharpie and a ruler, and TA DA!  Instant Rock.  I love that man.

I had to look 2200 miles away for mine.  I keep stenciling his underpants.  I'm sure it's very emasculating.

My boyfriend played out for the first time since we made it, and he was so excited that despite the fact that it was an acoustic show, he brought it along just to set it up on the stage anyway.
