I'm also confused about how the slats are folded, if "corner to corner" means diagonally or vertically. But at the same time, I'm wondering if that would even matter, and maybe the weight of the paper would distribute better if folded diagonally?

I've also never used mod podge (I know, what kind of a crafter AM I? Smiley) so I'm off to look for tips on how to use that as well. I'm thinking it's some sort of complicated multi-step process which is why I've never done it.

But these are SUPER cool and I look forward to trying it out once I'm clear on the best way to do it. I'm also a little worried about the tape showing up on the slats that you use to secure it while rolling them.

Nixx and Cbass - thank you for your posts!!   I'm very pumped about this.   I just happen to work for a publishing company, and we just threw out last years catalogs.   I took home two cases, and am hoping to make something like the vases posted earlier.   Very COOL!  I love recycled art!

As promised, here's my bowl:

And coaster:

Mum says it reminds her of a hop-i-ta (no idea if that how you spell it, but that's how you say it. Wink)  Do you remember playing hopscotch as a kid in grade school??  Remember those things you would toss onto the numbers to make it more challenging??  That's what I'm talking about Smiley

I folded my strips a bit differently.  When I decided to make mine, I didn't have access to craftster so I just did what I thought looked right/made sense to me.  I cut a bunch of 2 inch strips of paper and folded them in half lengthwise 3 times.  For my coaster I used 1 inch strips.
