No, mine's little!  I don't get it.  I used Jane magazine and Allure magazine, so I have plenty of paper.  I'm cutting each page into 2 inch stripes (by 11 inches or however long the magazine is) and folding them in half so they are 1 inch strips 11 inches long.  Then I am gluing each strip together and coiling them into a wheel.

My wheel is currently about 5 inches wide.  When I push it into the bowl shape, it's about the size of a medium clay flower pot.

I really want a large shallow platter.  But it's going to be so heavy and take so many magazines.

Oh well.

Try not cutting the pages.  I took whole pages and rolled them up, it makes each strip much fatter and should make your bowl bigger.

That's about 10 hours of work, and the disc is about 7 inches in diameter.

ones I saw were sheets of magazine paper rolled into tubes. I folded these sheets into 'slats', and made the bowls like collapsable cups. I will make a picture tutorial soon.

OMG!!!! What a good idea! I made a picture frame like you described above and it was HARD!!!! I was gonna make two, but it was difficult I only finished one, although I have lots of flattened paper tubes left.

I would prefer to make bowls with your method: much smarter, AND they look awesome!
GREAT JOB on coming up with such a good idea!

That is pretty small. You can push out the pages a bit more to reach it's maximum.

How wonderful!  I've been looking for something to do with all of those magazines I knew I shouldn't have thrown away when cleaning out the basement!  AND I'm going to have a tea party/craft date with a few friends tomorrow, and this will be a FANTASTIC project!  Thanks to all of you who answered questions and posted finished bowls, and certainly to Cbass' original post and tute!
