I agree, that rainbow effect must have taken some planning! Great bowl.

I also made some flower pots and was wondering if anyone knows if the mod podge would be able to hold the dirt and water, or if i should seal it with something else.

Mod Podge is WATER SOLUBLE. It will dissolve if you put anything wet in it. Other than using some nasty industrial expoxy-esque goo none of us would want to work with anyway, why not just put a container inside it? If the fit isn't perfect, just put some Spanish Moss (or the new, less messy American Moss) that looks kind of like grass on top of the dirt. Voila!

there is an outdoor mod podge that might hold up better as well...

This is a wonderful project.  I've started a couple and will post pix when finished. I do, however, have a couple of questions. How do you keep the rings from shifting to one side? CBass mentioned alternating "which sides you start to wrap around or else it will start to slant all to one side". I can't decipher what she meant. I flip the disk over & over as I wind but the slats seem to go lopsided, ie the center shifts to one side & when I expand the sides the bowl leans.

Also, I attempted the square project described by CapitanJen but couldn't get the corners to stay square. How do you keep the project from going round as the slats are wound around.  I made the same square center bit but I couldn't keep the project square.

Thanks for all the tips and great pictures.
