Swap name: Baby/Kid Stuff Swap (Round 2)
Craftster member who is organizing this swap: Madmatigan79
Sign-up date range: January 3/06 - January 17/06
Date to send item by: February 20/06
Limited to a certain number of people? (optional): No
Non-U.S. participants allowed? Yes
All ages allowed? Or 18+? Come one, come all!

Organizer is aware of current list of "suspended traders" list and will not allow those members to participate: YES

Organizer meets the 4 conditions for swapping and will make sure that every participant meets these conditions: YES

Details of swap:

Because there are more than a few crafty parents/grandparents/aunties/etc out there, this is a swap of items for the "little people" (read: children 12 years and younger) in our lives. Each person will craft at least three medium (time-wise) items (or equivalent, i.e. one large & one small, several small, etc) for their partner's child (or children). If you want to do more (or less), that is fine, as long as you have agreed upon it with your partner.

Consider the interests and age(s) of your partner's child(ren) and make things that will be appropriate.

The Rules:

You've probably heard them all before but here goes...

If you are eligible to get a DC (delivery confirmation number), you MUST get a DC. If you are not eligible to get a DC, SAVE YOUR RECEIPT AS PROOF THAT YOU HAVE SENT!

Please acknowledge when you receive your package by sending a pm to both me and your partner AND by posting in the Swap Gallery (will post link to thread once swap is underway).

PLEASE MAKE SURE TO POST IN THIS THREAD OR ACTIVATE THE 'NEW POST' NOTIFICATION FEATURE. This will ensure that no one gets left out of the loop as you will know when I or anyone else leaves a new message on this thread.

PLEASE DON'T SEND OUT EARLY without checking with me first! I will send out a pm to check in with everybody prior to the mail out date. When people reply to the check in pm, I will post a list on this thread. When your partner has replied, you may go ahead and send their package. Your partner will not send their package until I have heard from you! (this method seems to have worked for other organizers in keeping things on track and weeding out flakers)

If, for whatever reason, you are going to have to send late (or worse, not send at all), please let me and your partner know ASAP. Avoid negative feedback by keeping in good communication!!

If you want to participate, information to send to organizer:

QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap
Craftster username
Email address
Your real name
Mailing address
Would you be willing to ship to an address outside of the US?

How many children (12 years and under) do you have (if not their parent, what is your relationship to them)?
Do they have any allergies (ie. nuts, smoke, etc) or special needs that your partner should be aware of?
What are their names/ages/genders?
...clothing sizes?
...interests (ie. animals, princesses, sports, etc)?
...favorite activities (ie. drawing, singing, video games, etc)?
...favorite colours?
...favorite story/tv show/character/etc?
...other likes?
...dislikes?
Any other pertinent information?
Anything in particular you think your child(ren) would need/would like?
What are your craft skills?
What age range would you prefer to craft for (if it doesn't matter, just put "any")?
Do you have access to a digital camera/a way to post pictures?

IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO ORGANIZER VIA PRIVATE MESSAGE AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.

Also remember to read the Swap Info Guide to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.

I'm interested, but just wanted to see if anyone with a big kid signed up. I don't mind crafting for a little--it would be quite fun, but wasn't sure if anyone without a big kid would want to craft for one, y'know?  They can be challenging.

He's 10, and has pretty nerdy interests.  I think he'd be pretty easy to think of things for, but I know and like him.  Hee hee.

I think it would be lots of fun to craft for an older kid! My daughter is 22 months and the other kids in our extended family (nieces, nephews) are aged 6 and under...coming up with 'big kid' stuff to craft could be a nice change!

No one from the UK yet...so far 4 US and 1 Canada. A few people put down that they wouldn't mind shipping outside of the US (& Canada), so if you don't mind shipping to North America, we would love to have you!

Sign ups end Tuesday!

I just sent off my info.
Coyotelady, my son was really into Yugioh up until last year.  He still has a giant binder full of the cards and we'd go to the dueling nights at Toys R US.  I miss watching the show, because I always end up enjoying the cartoons he watches (I still miss Pokemon, too!) but I sure don't miss buying those cards!

So true! That is the great thing about swaps - you get the best of both worlds!

I too made a trip to the fabric store last weekend. Hope to start crafting this weekend!

Hi everyone!

I have updated the first post on this thread with a list of who has responded to the check-in pm I sent out today. If your partner's name is pink, that means that they have been in touch with me and you may go ahead and send their package.

Official send out date is Feb 20. Please let me know if you don't think you will be able to make this deadline - if there are enough people running behind, we can extend the deadline by a few days to avoid putting "sent late" in the swap feedback.

Please pm both the organizer (me) and your partner when you send out. Don't forget to include your delivery confirmation number in that pm! Failure to communicate with the organizer will be reflected in your swap feedback.  Embarrassed Thanks!

Now that the business stuff is out of the way, how is everyone doing?  Smiley

Yay! Everyone has replied to the check-in. If people are ready, they can go ahead and send out as they please (be sure to let both me and your partner know - also, don't forget your DC number!).

Anyone who has not yet completed their projects (*raises hand*), don't panic yet...there is still a week before the 'official' mail out date.

Plenty of time!  Wink

Seriously though, if you feel you need an extension, let me know and I can bump the send out date back a bit (not TOO much though...that wouldn't be fair to those people who pushed to be ready to send out by Feb 20). Being that we all have kids, I'm sure that everyone realizes that crafting cannot always be the number one priority...that sometimes you have to work or study or...oh yeah...PARENT!  Grin

Happy crafting!

Hi everyone!

A few of you have pointed out to me that today (send out day) is Presidents Day, so the post offices are not open. Oops!  Shocked

Sorry for any confusion it may have caused...you'll have to forgive me, though - I'm in Canada. We don't have a February stat day so today is business as usual for us.

Mine is all packed up and ready for tomorrow though.

A couple of people have sent/received & partners received so I have updated your feedback.

If anyone who has sent & their partner has received needs feedback for other swaps, please let me know, otherwise I will be updating feedback when I hear that you have also received from your partner (totally completed) the swap. (if that makes sense... Huh )

Thanks everyone for making this a great little swap!!
