I got this idea off Family Fun for our New-Years-At-Home-With-The-Kids.  It's a dollar store plastic tablecloth, tacked to the ceiling with thumbtacks, with a piece of yarn tied one one side and hanging over the other, filled with over 140 balloons (the small water balloon ones because that's all the dollar store had, and I didn't want to go anywhere else in the rain):

My kids had SUCH a great time playing with all the balloons! I pulled the cord right at midnight, and they didn't go to bed until after they had popped every single one of them!  (Many thanks to my hubby who helped me blow up all the balloons and get the whole thing set up!)

Now that is a FABULOUS Idea....

When I was a nanny - the kids ALWAYS wanted to stay up later than they were supposed to - I got pretty good about going into living room and changing the clock so that it was an hour or two ahead - so they always thought I was letting them stay up late - when in reality they were going to bed right on time...

Oh, to be a sneaky nanny again.

Looks like they had fun!
